News story

NESA CEO David de Carvalho has continued his school visit program throughout NSW, spending two days at Holy Trinity Primary School in Wagga Wagga.

David met with the school’s leadership team, teachers and students from Monday 13 March, to talk about the issues that concern them and ways NESA can offer assistance and support.

Thanking the staff and students for being so generous with their time, David said, “I am grateful to Principal Paul Jenkins, the teachers and students at Holy Trinity Primary for welcoming me into their school. It was a very worthwhile visit and provided me with much food for thought.”

While in Wagga Wagga, David also met with the Catholic Education Commission Regional Director of Schools, Alan Bowyer, and a number of Government, Independent and Catholic school principals from the local area.

During an interview with ABC Radio Riverina he took the opportunity to correct misinformation about the minimum literacy and numeracy standard for the HSC, saying “It is absolutely not the case that students will be ineligible for the HSC unless they get three Band 8's in their Year 9 NAPLAN tests.”

David’s next school visits are to Hunter Valley Grammar School in Maitland, and Al-Faisal in Auburn.
