NESA CEO David de Carvalho

David de Carvalho became Chief Executive Officer of NESA when it came into being on 1 January 2017. He has extensive experience in leading major reforms at both national and state level and a deep personal passion for, and understanding of, education.
Immediately prior to NESA, he was Deputy Secretary at the NSW Department of Family and Community Services. He has also led the National Catholic Education Commission, and was Head of the Higher Education Division in the Federal Education Department. He started his career as a secondary school teacher, and has served on several education and research boards.
